When musician Harry Styles and actor Zoë Kravitz confirmed their engagement today the first question many asked was: didn’t they do that last week? A close second query: what’s the ring like?
The answer to the first? The engagement was reported last week, when Kravitz was seen walking alongside Stylesin London with a sizeable diamond on her ring finger, but uncertainty about their relationship status remained - in part because Kravitz has a penchant for wearing diamond jewellery on each of her fingers.
However, a source close to the couple confirmed the news to People overnight. Which turns attention to the second question. Who made Zoe Kravitz’s engagement ring?

The smart money is on London-based, Christchurch-born jeweller Jessica McCormack. Also known as the diamond doyenne, McCormack is known for designs, such as the one Kravitz was pictured in, that combine traditional techniques with modern edge.
Kravitz is an official brand ambassador for the jeweller, with McCormack previously referring to her as her muse and saying, “To have Zoë working with us out of a genuine love for the jewellery and our craft is such an honour.”
For her part, Kravitz has been quoted as saying,”I genuinely love Jessica and her jewellery. As two female creatives, we have a mutual love and respect for each other’s work."

Speaking to ELLE Australia, fine jeweller Cushla Whiting highlighted the band’s bulkiness and the unique stone height as design elements that make it distinctive, saying, “The stone appears to sit lower to the hand within a substantial gold form”.
On her website, McCormack spotlights pieces with details that deliver both these aspects. The 3mm Round Wire Band, described as “more than just a plain gold band” is a “just-chubby-enough hoop of polished yellow, white or rose gold [that] is the ultimate classic wedding band, for bride or groom”.
The product description suggests the band makes a perfect pairing for McCormack’s signature button-back engagement rings.
A button back is a setting McCormack has re-popularised, taking inspiration from Georgian-era cut-down collet designs. A button-back ring has a rounded metal backing sitting underneath the gemstone providing it with a low-profile, secure setting that sits comfortably close to the skin.
McCormack does not list prices online for her larger engagement rings similar to Kravitz’s, but a 2.01-carat, east-west cushion-cut diamond ring featuring her signature button backing retails for $117,330.
US gossip and entertainment outlet Page Six speculated Kravitz could be wearing between 10 and 12 carats on her finger, taking the value up to a reported $1.3m (US$800,000).
McCormack’s irreverent approach has found her favour with other celebrity clients. She made the ring Tom Holland proposed to Zendaya with, and Madonna, Dakota Johnson, Alexa Chung and Rihanna are among her famous fans.
McCormack did not immediately respond to the Herald’s request for comment.
