Chart-topping golden girl Kimbra makes a triumphant homecoming with a show at Vector Arena in July headlining a bill also featuring the Black Seeds and popular dubsteppers Mt Eden.
This show will be Kimbra's first headlining show in New Zealand following performances at this year's Big Day Out, as part of the Auckland Cup carnival, and at designer Kathryn Wilson's fashion show last year.
It's been a busy year for the Hamilton-born singer-songwriter since releasing her debut album, Vows, and featuring on Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know. While that song just notched up its eighth week at No 1 on the US Hot 100 songs chart, Kimbra has also made an impact with Vows. It debuted on the US album charts at No 14 two weeks ago, making it the highest by a Kiwi female recording artist, although it has dropped back to No 45 on the top 200 chart this week.
She is currently on tour in America with Foster the People, before heading back Downunder for Australia's Splendour in the Grass festival and the Vector show.
The July 28 concert, put on by Auckland University Students Association, will also feature up-and-coming dance pop artist Ruby Frost who has just released her debut album, Volition. And later in the night, as well as Mt Eden, there will also be sets from Australian acts Vandalism and DJ Ajax.
Tickets are $65 (general public) from Ticketmaster and $20 for Auckland University students from AUSA reception.
Meanwhile, Kiwi hip-hop act Home Brew are heading out on tour in support of their chart-topping debut double-CD, with six dates scheduled in July.
The Auckland-based trio will perform on July 19 at Shadows in Auckland, July 20 at Hamilton's Altitude, July 21 at Wellington's San Francisco Bath House, July 26 at Queenstown's World, July 27 at Dunedin's Sammy's and July 28 at the Bedford Pop Up in Christchurch.
DJ Substance will play in support and cheap $20 pre-sale tickets are available through www.undertheradar.co.nz, with tickets for the Wellington show released here.
Elsewhere, Aussie singer-songwriter Missy Higgins has added a second show to her New Zealand schedule after the first sold out.
Higgins, most well known for the 2004 single Scar, will now perform at Queen St's Rangatira at Q Theatre on August 6, before the sold out show on August 7.
Tickets for the new show go on sale on June 18 through Ticketmaster.
