Super Bowl LIX: Taylor Swift booed by crowd as she supports boyfriend Travis Kelce at Caesars Superdome

Crowds at this year’s Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles seemed to be harbouring Bad Blood when they greeted pop megastar Taylor Swift with loud boos upon her arrival.

The singer, 35, is dating Chiefs player Travis Kelce, and appeared on the jumbotron next to rapper Ice Spice and members of the band HAIM in a private suite.

Giving a “side eye” movement while the crowds loudly jeered, the Shake It Off hitmaker appeared to shake off the scrutiny herself, giving a small laugh before averting her eyes back to the game.

Theories online posed different speculations as to why the crowd was booing. Some believed it was Eagles fans trying to stir up the opposition, and others said it was because the crowd did not like the show of celebrity culture.

“Good, NFL fans and people in general are tired of her ruining the game. Hopefully, they will stop showing her,” one person on X/Twitter commented.

According to Daily Mail, the two lovers enjoyed a sweet double date night in New Orleans ahead of the big event, with some fans criticising the footballer of being “unfocused” online.

The dinner was with Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes.

“Normally the players do not go out the week before they are playing in the Super Bowl because of how seriously they take the game, or so I’m told. Even saw an old clip of that Kelce guy saying that,” another X/Twitter user said.

This year’s appearance is not the first time Swift has supported Kelce for a big game. Last Super Bowl, the singer rushed from her Eras Tour show in Tokyo to Las Vegas on the day of the game.

They began dating in the summer of 2023, when Us Weekly reported that Swift and Kelce met through a mutual friend.

Speaking on Barstool Sports’ Bussin With The Boys podcast last year, Kelce said his teammates were supportive of the pair and that he tried to keep things private as much as they could.

“We kept it between us as much as we could, but once she came to a game it was f***ing all popping off from there,” he said.
