KEY POINTS:
Australian singer/actress Sophie Monk has spoken out for the first time following her break up from Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden and his subsequent hook-up with socialite Paris Hilton.
Monk released a statement saying the media had it "all wrong" and denied rumours the rocker had broken off their engagement to be with Hilton.
"Let me make this as plain as possible, Benji did not leave me for Paris Hilton. Benji and I did not break up badly or anything like that," she said.
"We both decided as adults our relationship had run its course and decided to move on. I feel no animosity toward Benji and Paris at all and am very happy with life at the moment."
Monk added that despite the break-up, her acting career in the US had gone into "overdrive".
Madden and Hilton were first spotted at a nightclub together just over a week ago, and have been photographed holding hands and attending several functions together since.
Hilton appears to be thrilled with her new boyfriend. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton today ran a photo of Paris clad top-to-toe in Madden's clothing label, DCMA Collective, and wearing a 'B' necklace while out shopping in LA.
