Rapper Cardi B attacked by cheetah during Bodak Yellow shoot

New footage shows rapper Cardi B being spooked by a snarling cheetah while filming the video for her hit single Bodak Yellow.

The video for the New York hip-hop artist's signature song has been a smash, with 450 million views and counting on YouTube.

But in a new behind-the-scenes mini-doco, the video's creator has revealed some tumultuous times during the shoot.

The video shows the rapper performing alongside a cheetah in several scenes, at one point patting it on the head.

"It was my idea. I wrote it into the treatment," reveals the video's director, Picture Perfect, about the video's Dubai shoot.

"I just didn't know how hard it was going to be to get a cheetah out there. We actually got this cheetah from a sultan out there."

But in the behind-the-scenes footage, the cheetah turns and hisses at Cardi B as she's performing.

"Okay, no, no, no," she says, stepping back and holding out the leash, pleading for someone to, "come hold him."

"That was kind of crazy," the director added. "We got her spirits back up."

He goes on to describe Cardi B as a "trooper".

"If it's for her video and her shot, she's gonna do it".
