BRISBANE - Albion Park officials have vowed to fix the track which has cost Sundon's Way his chance at Interdominion glory.
The Auckland trotter has been scratched from tomorrow night's $A200,000 Trotting Grand Final after a veterinary examination.
"He is very sore in a near front leg and there is no way he could have given his best in the Final," said trainer-driver mark Purdon.
"It is a shame because he came into this series in great form and I gave him a big chance of at least testing Last Sunset. I think that will be the end of his season."
The first sign of trouble came when Sundon's Way failed to run on in his usual style behind Take A Moment in his Tuesday heat.
While the hard track cannot be solely blamed for his injury it definitely didn't help and the man running this Interdominion carnival is moving to make sure the track is a lot more forgiving.
"The track was definitely harder on Tuesday than it was on the first night but we have been working overtime to get it back to perfect for Saturday night," said Albion Park boss Damian Raedler.
"We have been using the track conditioner to break up the surface which will ensure the track has a lot more top on it for this round of heats and the Trotting Final.
"I don't actually think the track was too bad on Tuesday but we have to listen to the trainers."
Sundon's Way's scratching means stablemate Last Sunset tightened even further with some bookies and he is now as short as $1.80 in some markets.
