It is understood Elkington — who appears via Instagram to have travelled with Flume on his tour through Asia — is also the woman in the purple wig depicted in the explicit video.
This has not been confirmed by Elkington or Flume.
Elkington, an actress, model, comedian, and designer of temporary tattoos, is no stranger to finding short-lived fame via viral internet content.
In 2017, she was one of two women photographed with prolific actor and walking meme himself, Jeff Goldblum.
In a photo posted to Elkington's Instagram page, the 66-year-old Jurassic Park actor is seen with one arm around Elkington, mock-choking another woman beside him.
The image went viral on Reddit, with Elkington posting a response to the attention a year later, as well as hitting back at people who suggested there was something sinister behind it.
Tennessee-bred Elkington has appeared in two indie films — Wobble Palace and Boomerang — and wrote and directed YouTube short Jessica. But her acting and modelling career is peppered with her own art projects.
She notably runs a website selling temporary tattoos inspired by pop culture moments, viral news stories and meme culture.
The "About" section of her site reads: "Paige Elkington is an designer, model, and actress living in LA. The Paige Shop started so that you could buy her weird creations — she runs the business out of her bedroom.
"She designed each temporary tattoo and limited edition bag purely because she wanted one for herself."
Available for purchase are tattoos of Jeremy Meeks' mugshot, a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon and her latest creation — a print of the false Instagram warning that circulated through many celebrities' feeds earlier this year, as advertised on her Instagram below:
Elkington recently featured in a series called Relationship Status, in which she plays a self-described "bi-curious millennial".
She is reportedly working on a web series of her own, naming Amy Poehler-produced series Broad City and Lena Dunham's Girls as inspiration in an interview with website The Standard Hotels.
She's clearly backed by her megastar boyfriend Flume in her creative endeavours.
