James Cameron has revealed the identity of big villain for his four Avatar sequels but it's hard to imagine the Na'vi are too worried considering they have already killed him...

Speaking to Empire magazine the director explained that the sequels will feature many of the same characters as 2009's Avatar and that Colonel Miles Quaritch will be the big bad for all four of the upcoming movies.

"There's not a new villain every time, which is interesting," Cameron said. "Same guy. Same motherf***er through all four movies."

Quaritch was played by actor Stephen Lang and ended the first Avatar film with a chest full of Na'vi arrows.

How Cameron plans to bring Quaritch back to life was not revealed in the interview.

Cameron will film three of the four Avatar films here in New Zealand, with the first expected in cinemas in 2020.
