Rocker Rod Stewart has become a grandfather for the first time - his daughter Kimberly has given birth to a baby girl in Los Angeles.

According to scandal sheet Us Weekly, the 31-year-old actress, model and socialite gave birth to her first child, a daughter by Oscar winner Benicio del Toro, on Sunday.

The website reports that the bambina, who has yet to be named, weighed in at 8lbs 9oz. Veteran singer Rod, 66, and his wife Penny Lancaster were at his daughter's side for the birth.

Del Toro was also present while his ex-girlfriend gave birth. A source says the pair are "thrilled that she is beautiful and healthy".

It was announced back in April that Stewart was pregnant with del Toro's baby after a brief fling, but that the pair were no longer together.

A spokesman for the Traffic star, 44, said: "Benicio is the father and very supportive. Although [he and Kimberly] are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby."

Rod welcomed his eighth child back in February, when Lancaster gave birth to their son Aiden. Speaking to People magazine at the time, Rod said he couldn't wait to be a grandfather, saying: "I'm going to be a grandfather, I've been waiting for that for so long - that and getting my bus pass - the two things I was looking forward to getting."

Congrats!

Snapped: Look who's back ...

It's new mum Natalie Portman.

The actress has kept a super-low profile since giving birth to her son Aleph in early June. Just as she said she would.

"I'll be out of the public eye afterward," Portman said while pregnant with fiancé Benjamin Millepied's baby, adding that she would take any future acting work "as it comes."

The Oscar-winning actress, 30, finally resurfaced in NYC last Thursday, and was papped while taking her pet pooch for a stroll near the Tribeca apartment she shares with her man.

No health scare for Bono

In non-news news ...

All is well with U2 singer Bono, despite what you may have heard.

Reports surfaced yesterday (courtesy of the Irish Independent newspaper) that the singer was rushed to hospital in Monaco after a heart scare last week.

Tattle tales claimed that the frontman, 51, was ordered to rest by doctors after suffering chest pains while on holiday in the south of France on Wednesday.

But cool your jets, his hospital visit was purely routine, says his rep.

Bono's rep tells Reuters: "Despite press stories to the contrary, Bono has not suffered a recent health scare. Reports of his being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment are untrue. Bono is in good health and enjoying a family holiday in the south of France."

Sneak a peek

So Kim Kardashian has finally put a ring on it and got hitched to Kris Humphries.

The reality TV star trotted down the aisle and swapped vows in front of 440 guests on Saturday at a private estate in Montecito, California.

Kardashian opted for a custom-designed strapless Vera Wang gown, while the groom sported a made-to-measure white tux. And lovely they looked, too.

Just good friends ...

Are once-battling former spouses Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller really letting bygones be bygones and having another stab at romance?

Let's have a butchers at the 'evidence'.

Us Weekly booms that the exes, who finalised their divorce in May, were spotted in Los Angeles on Friday, hopping onboard a private jet.

Word is Sheen whisked Muller south of the border to Mexico for a romantic getaway to celebrate her birthday. She turned 34 on Friday.

TMZ has the lowdown on the former couple's PDA-packed jaunt, including snappy action of the comedy pair pretending to smoke bananas.

"Forgot how much I love this place. #mexico is paradise...." Sheen tweeted on Sunday. "Brooke and I are thinking about staying for the rest of the month!!!"

But despite the lovey-dovey outlook, I'm told the pair won't be skipping down the often-potholed road to reconciliation anytime soon.

In the words of the (duh, winning) MaSheen himself: "[We are] working on mending the bridges, replanting scorched earth. The goal is harmony," Sheen tells TMZ.

I'm pretty sure that's warlock speak for something else entirely...

Hef's ex in reality show?

Former Playmate and runaway bride Crystal Harris is reportedly shopping her own reality TV show.

Harris, 25, who famously jilted Playboy honcho Hugh Hefner, 85, at the altar (and pegged him as a one-minute wonder in the bedroom department), is said to be in talks with various networks, reports TMZ.

The premise? The scandal sheet says the show will "focus on her struggle to find a career after burning the richest bridge she will ever have".

Sounds riveting.
