Comedian and actor Josh Thomson has quit as co-host of Three's flagship current affairs show The Project.
In a press release Three said Thomson is leaving to spend time with his family and "focus on his acting roles".
Thomson has been with The Project since it launched last February, although his acting has often seen him absent from the show.
In the last year he starred in the feature film Gary of the Pacific, the doco-series Subject: Dad and has been recently cast in the TVNZ/Netflix joint reboot of The New Legends of Monkey TV series.
In a statement Thomson said he, "loved being on The Project."
"I've got a baby coming and I want to spend as much time as I can with the little blighter."
Fans of Thomson's low-key humour will be pleased to know that he plans to guest on the show regularly.
Jeremy Corbett, comedian and host of 7 Days, has been named as Thomson's successor to join Kanoa Lloyd and Jesse Mulligan behind the desk.
Three also confirmed that Corbett will continue hosting 7 Days.
