Johnny Depp surprises sick Australian children as Captain Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp stunned patients at The Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in South Brisbane by turning up for a surprise visit - dressed as his pirate rogue Captain Jack Sparrow.

The Hollywood star posed for pictures with the children on Tuesday during a break from the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which was filming nearby.

A mother of one of the patients says: "He was going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn't get out of bed. We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to (my son) Max.

"It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move him on, but he kept on coming back."
