KEY POINTS:
Jessica Simpson was hospitalised over the weekend with a kidney infection.
The singer was taken to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday after suffering from a fever.
After being treated for the minor infection, Jessica was released yesterday.
A close friend of the Simpson family said: "Shechecked in on Friday morning because she was feeling achy and had a fever. She is doing fine now."
Jessica's representative Lauren Auslander confirmed: "Jessica is feeling much better."
The 27-year-old star was not accompanied to the hospital by her boyfriend, American football player Tony Romo, as he was competing in the Azalea Golf Invitational at the Country Club of Charleston, South Carolina, in which he finished in 34th place.
Jessica - who is currently working on her upcoming country album - isn't the only celebrity to have been taken ill with the nasty ailment.
Last November, Mary-Kate Olsen was hospitalised in New York with an infection.
