They rose to international comedy acclaim through their 2005 BBC radio series and an HBO sitcom which ran from 2007-2009. Combining deadpan humour and parody songs, the Emmy-nominated series followed fictionalised versions of their lives in New York City.
The duo signed a record deal with Sub Pop Records for their recorded music, releasing the Grammy-winning EP, The Distant Future in 2007, followed by their self-titled full length debut in 2008, I Told You I Was Freaky in 2009, and Live In London in 2019.
They have headlined concerts in the United States and the United Kingdom, including a successful Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour in 2016.
The Conchords have enjoyed individual success outside the band.
Clement is the co-creator of the comedy horror TV shows Wellington Paranormal and What We Do In The Shadows.
Most recently he starred as Dr. Garvin in the last two Avatar films The Way of Water in 2022 and Fire and Ash in 2025.
McKenzie was the songwriter for The Muppets, which won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song. He’s also written songs for TV and film, including The Simpsons and The Minecraft Movie.
