Breaking Bad star Steven Michael Quezada is stepping up his career in politics by entering the race for county commissioner in his native Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The actor transitioned into local politics in 2013, when he won a position on the Albuquerque school board, and now he has set his sights on the Bernalillo County Commission seat.
Quezada, 52, tells The Associated Press he will make a formal announcement soon.
Unlike the star's bid for the school board position, for which Quezada ran unopposed, he will face some competition for the new role, with at least three other local figures vying for the seat.
The actor portrayed DEA agent Steve Gomez on Breaking Bad, which was shot on location in New Mexico.
