Amanda Seyfried has put the spotlight on gender discrimination in Hollywood after revealing she was paid just 10 per cent of a male co-star's salary.
Known for her roles in Mamma Mia! and most recently Ted 2, the actress said she was shocked to discover the large pay gap whilestarring in an undisclosed blockbuster recently.
She and her were "pretty even in status" and their pay should have reflected that, she said.
"I think people think that just because I'm easy going and game to do things, I'll just take as little as they offer," she told the Sunday Times.
"It's not about how much you get, it's about how fair it is."
Actror Rose McGowan was fired by her agent in June after criticising a casting call for an upcoming Adam Sandler movie.
She revealed on Twitter that she attended the audition at which she was encouraged to wear a push-up bra - hinting that the name of the male star rhymed with "Madam Panhandler".

Wage equality in Hollywood was also drawn on by Patricia Arquette in her Oscars acceptance speech for her role in Boyhood - which gained the approval of veteran actress Meryl Streep.
The hacking of Sony Pictures last year also revealed that American Hustle stars Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper were paid two per cent more of the profits than their female co-stars Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawerence.
