Steak and noodles are a handy and quick dinner combination that needs not be heavy. This dish uses soba noodles made from buckwheat flour, making them light with a nutty flavour, and delicious served cold with lean, rare Silver Fern Farms Flat-Iron Steaks. Quick and easy to cook, Flat-Iron Steaks are ideal for this dish. All Silver Fern Farms beef is selected by Master Graders using the Eating Quality System® to ensure premium quality beef cuts that are tasty, tender and juicy, every time. Make plenty and pack some into boxes for nutritious lunches the next day.

Ingredients

2Limes, zest and juice
1 ½ TbspMirin
1 pieceFresh ginger, 3cm, finely grated
3 TbspSoy sauce
2 TbspSesame oil
1 packetSoba noodles, approx 300g (Main)
1 packetSilver Fern Farms Flat Iron Steaks (Main)
1 drizzleOil
3 cupsAsian salad greens, such as mizuna and tatsoi
¼ cupChopped fresh coriander
1Finely chopped spring onion
3 TbspSesame seeds, toasted

Directions

  1. Place all the dressing ingredients - lime zest and juice, mirin, ginger, soy sauce and sesame oil - in a bowl and whisk to combine.
  2. Cook the noodles according to packet instructions, rinse under cold water, drain, then combine with the dressing.
  3. Heat a frying pan. Drizzle Silver Fern Farms Beef Flat-Iron Steaks with oil and season with salt and pepper. Fry 3 minutes each side. Remove and rest, covered for 5 minutes.
  4. Slice the steak into thin strips and toss gently through the noodles with the salad leaves, coriander and spring onion. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
