Police have renewed their appeal for help in catching a knife-wielding man who robbed an Auckland bank on Friday afternoon and may be behind two similar incidents over the past six months.
The man walked into the National Bank in the suburb of Mt Albert just before 4pm on Friday,presented the knife and demanded money from staff,
He walked away with an undisclosed amount.
Police are concerned the man might strike again and said it was hard to predict how he might react if confronted.
Since CCTV footage of the man was published over the weekend, police had received only one call, from Wellington, which turned out to be a false alarm, Detective Sergeant Pete Steward told NZPA.
"We're soldiering on and we're trying to give this as much exposure as we can.
"He's got quite a unique-looking face and somebody must know him. We're concerned because he's already done three robberies and he may strike again.
"He definitely had a knife on him, and we don't know what he might do if confronted," Mr Steward said.
Police described the man as Maori or Polynesian, aged between 25 and 35.
Mr Steward said Friday's robbery was similar to two other incidents -- both robberies at National Bank branches -- one in Onehunga on July 23 and the other in Dominion Road, Mount Eden, on November 5.
