Norfolk Jet takes on Air NZ

Norfolk Jet, the 7-year-old airline of Norfolk Island, will start flying to New Zealand in August, providing some competition to Air New Zealand, at present the only airline flying between Auckland and the island territory.

Its first flight, in a Fokker F100, a 100-seat jet, will be on August 29.

It received permission this week by Australian aviation officials to start flying the route.

Norfolk Jet already flies between the island and Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
