A dazzling Auckland waterfront public fireworks celebration is planned for 6pm tonight to celebrate the America's Cup victory.
Angela Bull, chief executive of Viaduct Harbour Holdings, said the event would be for everyone to enjoy and will be held at Headquarters restaurant.
"Viaduct Harbour invites all Aucklanders to join with it tonight in celebrating bringing the America's Cup back to Viaduct Harbour. There will be a fireworks and lighting display at 6pm and all the bars and restaurants will be celebrating. We are incredibly proud of Emirates Team New Zealand and look forward to Viaduct Harbour being central to the next America's Cup event," Bull said.
Viaduct Harbour owns land in the area and Bull said there would be "fire works, flames and special events."
The event might be best viewed around the waterfront plaza public walkway area near the Sebel Auckland Viaduct Harbour.
Bull said a seawall lighting display would follow the fireworks.
Last month, Viaduct Harbour Holdings announced a new artwork featuring thousands of individual lights, unveiled at Queen's Birthday weekend.
That light installation is a collaboration between Viaduct Harbour Holdings and renowned Kiwi light artist and architect Angus Muir.
It is permanently fixed to three lengths of the Viaduct seawall, projecting bright-coloured lights into the harbour, starting with the Bright Nights launch.
