What's the best way to make your CV stand out from others? One smart-thinking millennial who sent his with a box of donuts may have the answer.

San Francisco-based marketing professional Lukas Yla conjured up a ploy to sell himself to employers - and it included sugary treats.

Having found himself unemployed, the 25 year-old from Lithuania decided to combine his written skill set with baked goods. He then proceeded to pose as a delivery person to hand deliver the parcels to company recruiters.

Yla told Thrillist he was looking for a direct way to reach company decision makers.


"I thought, that I might fail competing only on 'resume' level with other candidates that have work experience in San Francisco," he said.

However, his plan worked and he secured 10 job interviews.

Yla admitted posing as a delivery worker was "a bit odd", but said the strategy was paying off.

"I had 10 interviews so far and I haven't delivered donuts to all the companies I admire and love what they're doing yet," he told the Thrillist.

"Recruiters, marketing pros and people in general love this kind of approach, it's something you didn't expect, fun and out of the box."

One recruiter took to social media to praise Yla's job seeking approach.

Yla said intense competition for jobs in the marketing and tech jobs in San Francisco was the reason he came up with the stand-out strategy.

It just goes to show thinking outside of the box, or inside the box can get you noticed.
