Businesses around Wellington experienced a loss of phone services today.

The Wellington City Council this afternoon tweeted that its contact centre was experiencing issues with incoming calls, due to a major incident at Vodafone.

Vodafone head of external communications said Andrea Brady said some business customers of Vodafone Next Generation Services may have experienced a loss of voice services for a short period today.

She said she understood it impacted customer landline services, including fax and toll free services.


"Our engineers acted swiftly to investigate the loss of service and worked to reinstate customer services as their highest priority."

Brady said all services were fully restored at 1.36pm.

"We sincerely apologise for any impact to our customers, including Wellington City Council and their respective customers."
