Ready for a blast from the past?

Nineties kids rejoice: Motorola's iconic RAZR is making a comeback and the company is expected to make an announcement on June 9.

Motorola released a promotional YouTube video late last month set in a school theme (clever) to tease that the iconic phones - once endorsed by Paris Hilton - might hit shelves in the coming months.

The fuschia pink, silver and black flip phones were once all the rage, with teenagers in particular taking to the mobile device.

The YouTube video titled 'Moto 06.09.16' is reference to the date of an event scheduled for June 9 and teases with the description: "Flip back to the Razr days of yesteryear and get ready for the future."

A number of social media users have taken to Twitter to express their excitement.

One user said: "100% getting a new #MotorolaRazr when they come back out".

Discussion online has brought about the idea that British songstress Adele may be to thank for the revival, after an old-school flip phone made a debut in her "Hello" music video which has received more than 1.5 billion views.

Reports of other celebrities such as Rihanna and Anna Wintour using retro flip phones has also sparked speculation on whether they are coming back in fashion.

At this stage it is unconfirmed whether Motorola will be launching a reboot of the RAZR or the original model itself.
