The New Zealand Herald and nzherald.co.nz have recorded another strong result in the latest readership figures, with our combined print and online audience lifting to 844,000 readers a day and 1.34 million across the week.
The Nielsen research readership survey for the year to September 30 comes as a separate ABC audit of sales of the print edition of the newspaper shows the Herald out-performing other main centre papers.
The Herald on Sunday was the star performer in the sales data, increasing its circulation by 482 papers each week to reach 99,191 - and winning more than 40 percent of Sunday papers' nationwide market share for the first time.
Circulation of the daily Herald is 144,157 copies on average, more than the two next biggest daily papers combined. Herald sales fell 3.1 percent against an overall fall of 6.2 percent for metropolitan papers, part of a worldwide trend for print newspapers.

Every issue of the Herald through the week now sells more copies than the nationally-circulating Sunday-Star Times, which dropped 4.5 percent year on year.
Overall sales of the metropolitan and regional newspapers owned by Herald publisher NZME. significantly out-performed those of its major competitor, Fairfax Media.
