Metcash buys Allied Liquor

The privately owned wholesale liquor distributor Allied Liquor has been sold to Australian listed grocery and liquor company Metcash Trading.

Metcash said yesterday its subsidiary Tasman Liquor Company had bought Allied from owner NZ Liquor for an undisclosed price.

NZ Liquor, previously the retail and distribution division of DB Group, was sold to a group of DB managers two years ago.

Allied Liquor has an annual turnover of about $40 million.
