Christchurch electronics firm Dynamic Controls today said it will spend $10 million to replace its current business information system.
Chief executive John McCombe said the investment " demonstrates our commitment to longer term growth plans".
The new system which replaces the existing 10-year-old one will link information faster across the business, providing
a better platform for Dynamic Control's ongoing growth, the company said in a statement.
"The new investment is one of the best systems available and involves software company Peoplesoft," Dynamic Controls said.
The system is expected to improve business operations and benefit customers. It is planned it will go live by the end of the year.
Dynamic Controls has been the world's leading manufacturer of controls for powerchairs and scooters for the last 30 years.
It is one of the top three electronic manufacturers in New Zealand in terms of revenue, units produced and staff numbers, currently employing 480 people in Christchurch.
"We are continuing to invest heavily in research and development and plant and equipment to ensure that we retain our lead position," Mr McCombe said.
Ninety eight per cent of Dynamic products are exported to markets in Europe, Asia and the USA.
The company is owned by Invacare Corporation a New York Stock Exchange listed company which is the largest manufacturer of non-acute home medical equipment in the world with annual revenues of US$1.3 billion ($2.20 billion).
