Nathans directors fight ban

The battle between former Nathans Finance directors Kenneth Moses and Donald Young and the government department trying to ban them continued in the High Court at Auckland yesterday.

In July, the Ministry of Economic Development said Moses and Young were fighting the Registrar of Companies' attempt to ban them from future directorships for up to five years.

The ministry's national enforcement unit, which is running the case, applied to have all four directors, including John Hotchin and Mervyn Doolan, banned.

The registrar is also trying to ban Gary Stevens, who was involved in related-party lending with Nathans Finance. Stevens is also fighting the attempt to ban him.

Doolan's lawyer Nathan Gedye said that while Doolan was not involved in the proceedings, the result of the case would also apply to him and Hotchin.

Yesterday, Justice Graham Lang adjourned the case until November.
