1. Building At 10.45am, Statistics NZ will release data on building consents issued in May, a big gauge of economic productivity and confidence. The numberof consents issued has been increasing lately, particularly in the dwelling-starved Auckland market. Housing and Building Minister Nick Smith keeps a close eye on this and often comments.
2. Foreigners The Overseas Investment Office will release data today on foreigner entities and people buying assets in New Zealand.
3. Decision The Commerce Commission is due to release its decision today on the Fletcher/Higgins deal.
4. Stride Stride Property's special general meeting is at 9am at Rydges Hotel in Federal St. This is to vote on restructuring the business into a stapled group comprising its real estate investment management business and its property-owning portfolio investment entity. The Stride board is proposing this because real estate investment management business has grown to the point where the business would lose its PIE tax status.
5. Directors A Women On Boards dinner is on tonight at the Stamford Plaza Hotel, Albert St, Auckland.
6. Publishing The NZ Publishing Industry Conference is on today at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Auckland.
7. Australia Countdown to the national federal election on Saturday. Polls are extremely close, although they favour coalition leader Malcolm Turnbull.
