Australian producer prices jump

Australia's inflation rate is expected to have jumped in the March quarter, with rising fuel prices pushing inflation at the producer level higher.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported the final stage producer price index (PPI) rose 0.7 per cent in the March quarter for an annual rise of 1.9 per cent. The March quarter consumer price index figures come out today.
