The changing of the guard continued at brewing company Lion Nathan today with the resignation of long-serving director Robin Congreve.
Dr Congreve was appointed a director of Lion Nathan in 1988 after the controversial merger between Lion Corporation and L. D. Nathan and Co.
He had been a director ofL. D. Nathan since 1986.
Lion Nathan chairman Douglas Myers said: "Robin has played a key part in the transformation of Lion from a New Zealandbased company to an international brewer.
"He applied his considerable business expertise to the formation of Lion Nathan, to the new company's expansion into Australia and later the move into China.
"I would like to express the board's great appreciation of his contribution."
The departure of Dr Congreve means only three Lion Nathan directors remain from the time of the merger with L. D. Nathan.
They are Douglas Myers, Geoff Ricketts and Mike Smith, who recently changed his status to non-executive director.
Mr Ricketts is the only remaining L. D. Nathan director.
In the year to August 31 three other long-serving Lion Nathan directors resigned: Chris Mace, Alan Gibbs and Kevin Roberts. Four directors from Kirin Brewery Co of Japan were appointed.
