2degrees has warned that a 'rewards program' message circling today offering heavily discounted phones is a scam.
The mobile service provider took to Twitter to say they were aware of the scam messages and advised those who received them not to click on any links or provide any personal details.
"We are aware of scam messages like below claiming to be from 2degrees offering heavily discounted phones in return for personal details. These posts are not from us and advise NOT click on any links or provide any personal details."
The message, claiming to be from 2degrees, says you can win a Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X or iPad Pro if you answer 10 questions provided.
"Every day we select a small group of users and offer them the opportunity to receive gifts from our partners and sponsors. You can win a Samsung Galaxy S9, iPhone X or iPad Pro. All you need to do to receive the gift is to answer the following 10 questions," the scam message says.
New Zealand telecommunication companies have been working together to crack down on international phone scams which have plagued the industry.
In April, New Zealanders were the target of mysterious calls from international numbers as part of an elaborate scam dubbed the "Wangiri" scam.
More to come.
