As Kristen Stewart steps out of the shadows to promote her latest flick, tongues have inevitably been wagging over how she and Robert Pattinson will handle the promotional blitz for the final Twilight movie.

All shades of awkward? Undoubtedly. But Stewart doesn't think it'll be a problem for her.

The 22-year-old actress made her first post-cheating scandal public appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival last week while promoting On the Road, a big screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac's 1950s Beat Generation novel.

The Twilight star spoke to the Associated Press at the festival on Saturday about hitting the promotional treadmill with Pattinson by her side for the Saga's final installment, Breaking Dawn - Part 2.

In November, Stewart, Pattinson and the rest of the Twilight gang are expected to attend a smattering of premieres to promote the movie, but according to the actress, she isn't predicting a trainwreck.

"We're going to be fine," Stewart told the news agency. "We're totally fine."

As for her appearance at the On the Road premiere in Toronto last Thursday, the typically press-shy Stewart admitted that although she was nervous at the prospect of facing the media, she never thought about skipping the festival.

"We have been waiting for this thing to be unleashed for so long. It was sort of one of those situations where you just have to put yourself in your body and go appreciate the moment," she said.

"I was a little nervous, obviously. I'm always nervous before a red carpet," Stewart continued. "To be honest, I was just kind of telling myself, like, just don't black out. Be there, don't just figuratively put your head down and barrel though it. Be there, appreciate it. Luckily, very, very much I was able to do that."

'I'm doing fine'

Stewart was supported by hoards of enthusiastic fans, yelling, "Kristen, I love you!" as she rocked the red carpet at the movie's premiere last week, People reports.

When asked how she was doing on Thursday night, the actress replied, "I'm doing fine," AP reported.

The starlet, without referring to the cheating scandal, also told Reuters the support from fans was "amazing" and said she was thankful "to know that everyone is here".

"You expect a lot of people at a Twilight premiere, but showing up at an On the Road Toronto film festival screening and seeing that amount of people is absolutely, disarmingly amazing," Stewart echoed to the AP on Saturday. "It felt pretty cool."

Speaking of her latest movie release, she said: "The great thing about On the Road is that it really can crack open your shell, and I definitely realised things about myself that I didn't realise before. That I can let my face hang out and not be too aware of it, and stop questioning myself and not be afraid of strangers, and stop being judgmental."

Stewart suffered a widespread public backlash in July after she admitted cheateding on Pattinson with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," the actress said in a statement at the time.

"This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob," Stewart continued. "I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

Sanders, 41, is married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross, 33. They have two children together.

Last month it was claimed that studio execs are quietly hoping that Stewart and Pattinson will get back together before the promotional blitz for the final Twilight flick kicks into gear.

According to the New York Post, Summit Entertainment hasn't fully mapped out promotional plans for the movie.

"The studio's holding out to see if they get back together. But I don't think anyone is banking on that happening," a source said.

"At this point, the press strategy would have been mapped out. It's usually very organised, but at this time it's undecided."

Insiders also said that Stewart and Pattinson could attend premieres separately if they don't reunite, claimed the website.

Summit, on the other hand, said it was moving "full steam ahead" on promotion for the movie.

"While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead and looking forward to this November's opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," president of worldwide marketing, Nancy Kirkpatrick, told Entertainment Weekly.

"We are confident that the film delivers amazing entertainment for our passionate fans and general audience alike."

Meanwhile, a source has called BS on a report that Stewart was spotted "flirting" with none other than James Franco at the Toronto International Film Festival.

According to website HollywoodLife, the pair was supposedly spied together during a party at Soho House over the weekend.

"I watched [Kristen and James] chatting for about 20 minutes. Kristen was surrounded by bodyguards, but I could clearly see how excited they were, laughing and flirting. James invited Kristen for a dinner that night, and someone [said] that James thinks Kristen is beautiful, and an amazing actress," claimed a source.

Another source added, "Kristen and James Franco chatted for like 10 minutes in a corner [at Toronto's Soho House], looking flirty.

"Kristen went to a mysterious third floor and James followed her."

There's no Scooby-Doo mystery here, folks. A source close to Stewart has called cobblers on the report, telling Gossip Cop that Stewart and Franco "never saw each other".

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 hits New Zealand cinemas on November 15.
