A family's camping trip along Victoria's Murray River will be remembered forever after they came across a koala casting a line as it attempted to catch fish.
Lorraine Johns and her family had left their fishing rods sitting along the river bank while they were having a picnic. But when they turned around they caught the inquisitive koala in the act.
"We just turned around and there it was holding on to the fishing pole!" she told 9 News.
Johns swiftly got her phone out and started filming, saying, "Just another day in Australia".
Speaking to 7 News, she described the sight as a "bizarre, once in a lifetime opportunity".
"It just doesn't happen, does it?"
According to the family, the wild koala had been hanging around the campsite for about an hour before it decided to take up fishing.
Family member Andy Masoe joked that he hoped the koala had better luck with fishing than he does.
"I hope it catches the fish because I can't," he quipped.
"It was good to see it come down here and try and teach me."
One reader joked that authorities would probably give the koala a fine for not having a fishing licence.
