Wairarapa netball coaches will have the chance to learn from one of the very best at a workshop to be held at St Matthew's College gymnasium on Saturday, August 11
Robyn Broughton will be in Masterton to speak at a dinner being organised by the Wairarapa Sports Education Trust and has acceded to a request from Sport Wairarapa and Netball Wairarapa to run the hour-long workshop in mid-afternoon.
Broughton coached New Zealand A in 1988-89 and was assistant coach of the Silver Ferns from 2000-02 but is better known for her remarkable successes with the Southern Sting, the Invercargill-based side whose win in the National Bank Cup competition this year was their seventh in 10 years And the other three times they have been runners-up.
Sports Wairarapa's Dayle Clarkson said because of the limited time available to Broughton the workshop was being confined to coaches and she was confident of a big attendance.
"She (Broughton) has a wealth of knowledge about what makes a good coach and that's where the focus will be," Clarkson said.
Also at the workshop will be members of the Wairarapa under-17 team who will be used for demonstration purposes.
