Mark Hunt's New Zealand UFC homecoming has been confirmed.
The Kiwi will fight American heavyweight Derrick Lewis in Auckland on June 11, the UFC confirmed on Twitter today.
While "Super Samoan" Hunt appears nearing the later stage of his career, the Sydney-based veteran will be making his first UFC appearance in New Zealand.
The 32-year-old Lewis, on a run of knockout victories, wanted to fight the South Auckland-raised Hunt who was smashed in his last outing by Alistair Over em, and Hunt still needs a medical clearance.
The first UFC Fight Night was held in Auckland in 2014.
Lewis won by a knockout over Travis Browne in February, his fifth such victory in his last six fights. Hunt is running at 2-3, plus one no-contest. Hunt's last victory was a knockout victory over Frank Mir in early 2016.
