The SPCA hopes that more of the 46,000 animals coming through its doors each year will find new homes. This summer, the Herald profiles animals that have been adopted and their owners as part of our My Rescue Pet series.
At 16 years old, Pancake is an old gal.
But don't let that fool you, her owner Alex Wilson says, because Pancake has plenty of sass.
"She is so sweet-natured and we are delighted we ended up with the coolest, cuddliest and sassiest senior we know," she said.
Arriving at the Auckland SPCA when her previous owner could not care for her, the sweet elderly cat found a new home with Wilson.
Taking a few months to adjust to living alongside a 13-year-old dog and an enthusiastic foster kitten, Pancake has become the most confident cat her family has known.
