A chemical spill from a ute has closed a small section of road south of Rotorua.
Fire crews and police were called about 8.30am after attempts to clean the spill on Bryce Rd, in Ngakuru were unsuccessful.
A police media spokeswoman said the spill, which came from a ute, had caused a chemical reaction on the road.
The road has been partially closed with police directing traffic while fire crews douse the area.

She advised motorists to be careful in the area.
A Rotorua Daily Post photographer said there were at least two fire crews and a hazard truck, about 2km down Bryce Rd.
