Police hunt man who failed to return to prison following compassionate leave

Hawke's Bay Police are looking for a Turei Crawford who is wanted for failing to return to Hawke's Bay Prison after being granted compassionate leave.

Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said that the 23-year-old had been released on bail last Friday for a family bereavement.

Mr Crawford failed to return to the prison later that day and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

He is described as approximately 170cm tall and of medium build.

He is known to frequent the Napier suburb of Maraenui.

Anyone with knowledge of Mr Crawford's whereabouts is asked to contact Hawkes Bay Police on 06 831 0700.
