Tropical Cyclone Winston continues to strengthen as it tracks towards New Zealand, and WeatherWatch predicts it may bring dangerous conditions to some beaches in the North Island.
While Winston is tracking south towards New Zealand, it is unlikely it will make a direct hit as it will probably weaken as it tracks south, WeatherWatch says.
It is more likely to bring dangerous beach and marine conditions to some areas of the North Island.
Because Winston is still deepening, it is already churning up the sea, WeatherWatch said.
Meanwhile another cyclone tracking towards New Zealand, Tropical Cyclone Tatiana, continues to strengthen and it is possible it will become a Category 2 cyclone, higher than Australian forecasters were expecting yesterday.
Cyclone Tatiana, the smaller of the two cyclones, is expected to last until Saturday.
However, it will drift towards the upper North Island.
Because of the two cyclones tracking towards New Zealand and a new low in the southern Tasman Sea next week, WeatherWatch predicts there might be very humid weather over the country and heavy rain and possible thunderstorms.
