Kiwis have more than chocolate eggs to look forward to this long Easter weekend, with mostly fine weather forecast for the country.
MetService meteorologist Emma Blades said early forecasts indicated it would be nice weather for most through to Monday, apart from a few showers about parts of the country towards the end of the weekend.
"There will be a few showers on the west coast and also around the east of the North Island on the Saturday. In Auckland there might be a few showers on Saturday as well."
It was possible there may be isolated showers for the top of the North Island on Monday, she said.
"But other than that it's looking pretty good."
Temperatures in the North Island this long weekend would mostly be in the low 20s, Ms Blades said.
The weather was also looking fine in the South Island, she said.
Auckland was in for warm temperatures, peaking in the low 20s over the four-day weekend.
Among events in the city this weekend, the Streets Easter Show starts today at ASB Showgrounds with circus acts, rides and exhibits, plus an A&P Show.
The Waiheke International Jazz Festival kicks off on the island tomorrow and finishes on Sunday.
Daylight saving starts on Sunday when clocks go back one hour.
