A summer of roadworks is coming for Aucklanders and motorists should check routes before travelling.
Lanes on the Auckland Harbour Bridge and sections of the Southern Motorway will be closed during December and January.
Some inner city roads, including Bowen Ave and Grafton Rd, will be closed or have restricted access only.
New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman Andrew Knackstedt says the agency aims to minimise disruptions for holiday travellers.
"We want people's journeys to be as safe and as stress-free as possible."
Knackstedt says resurfacing is the most common work people will see over the holidays.
However, there will also be some road improvements, with Kopu Bridge on the route to Coromandel opening in the second or third week of December and the Victoria Park viaduct becoming fully operational for southbound traffic on January 8.
Knackstedt recommends travellers check www.highwayinfo.govt.nz for up-to-date information on road works.
