Hooper takes over at Netball Central Zone

Chris Hooper has been appointed the first chief executive of the new Netball Central Zone.

Hooper brings 15 years' experience as a chief executive, having run large national youth development non-profit organisations in both New Zealand and the UK. He was boss of the scout movement in New Zealand for the past five years and also worked with the Special Olympics in the UK.

Netball Central Zone is part of Netball New Zealand's move from a 12-region model to five major zones. In the Central Zone, 22 netball centres will be merged into 17.

The newly-formed Netball Central Zone board sees the dissolution of the Central Pulse board and the Eastern, Western and Wellington boards, with the new board retaining Ian Collier as chairman and board members Kerry Prendergast, Sue Gordon (Central Pulse), Sue Gould (Western) and Lee-Ann Taylor (Eastern). Other members include Shaun Clarke, Carol Sander (Wellington) and Chris McGeown.

"The new board guarantees continuity, as we aim to provide a seamless transition from the current structure to the new zone,'' Collier said.

Hooper will start in early December.
