A police investigation is under way after a man suddenly died in Te Awamutu this morning.
St John Ambulance were called to a Hazelmere Crescent address and they in turn called police at about 7am.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall confirmed a 45-year-old Auckland man had died at the property and were investigating the circumstances.
Police were appealing for any witness or information that might help the investigation.
A neighbour who helped at the scene said the man was alive when he was taken from the house and taken to the ambulance but must have died while he was being attended.
He said there was another person at the house.
Police at the scene were also interested in a car parked opposite the house.
Locals helped with traffic control as the street was congested with three ambulances and up to six police cars in attendance. Families were trying to access nearby Te Awamutu Intermediate School started for the day.
