Wyndham Hotel Group and developer Safari Group plan to open an 85-room property in Manukau.
The $25 million Ramada Suites Manukau Pacific Centre, will be managed by Marsden Asset Management and comprise studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, each with a fully equipped laundry and kitchen.
Building is scheduled to start next month for completion in mid-2019.
It will be the brand's fourth property in Auckland which is suffering from a shortage of commercial accommodation at peak times.
Ramada Manukau is Wyndham Hotel Group's seventh collaboration with Safari Group.
Around the world Ramada has about 850 hotels in more than 60 countries, including more than 90 hotels in South East Asia and the Pacific Rim.
The Manukau property is near the Vodafone Events Centre and within walking distance of Manukau's growing central business district, Westfield Manukau and Vector Wero Whitewater Park.
It is 11km from Auckland Airport through which 19 million passengers pass through every year.
President and managing director of Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson, said fast-growing demand in Auckland made the city an important strategic market for the company's expansion in the South Pacific.
Auckland's tourism potential was not constrained to its CBD and areas to the north and south, like Manukau, had experienced growing business and leisure interest.
The recently-opened Ramada Suites Albany had achieved ''outstanding'' occupancy figures since opening.
