A 12-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a shark attack at a popular Sydney harbour beach on Sunday afternoon.
The attack happened about 4.30pm at Nielsen Park in Vaucluse, a beach known for both its netted swimming area and open water.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said they respondedwith “multiple resources”, including intensive care paramedics and aeromedical teams, including the CareFlight helicopter.
“The patient, a teenage boy, with critical injuries to both of his legs, was transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, in a critical condition,” the spokesperson said.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the boy is believed to be about 12 years old.
