Health authorities are investigating reports that six people - two in Brazil, three in the US, and an Australian - have died within days of being immunised with the yellow fever vaccine.
The vaccine is given to New Zealand travellers bound for places like Africa and South America, and isconsidered one of the safest vaccines. Dr Marc Shaw at the Auckland Travellers Clinic said he was puzzled but concerned about the reports. He knew of a small risk for people over 65, but there was only a one in two million chance of a side-effect.
