“The occupants of that white Mazda jumped into the Kia, took control of the Kia, running over the young boy, the 17-year-old who had been slashed earlier,” the detective said. Police said they believe this was deliberate.
“The vehicle ran over that young boy and then made its way back out into Acland St with two occupants on board.
“A third male had jumped some fences trying to evade police, who were in attendance.”
The detective told reporters at the scene the crimes were very serious.
“The offenders have no humanity, these offenders – behaviour like dogs, rabid dogs are what I’d call these behaviours,” he said.
A witness told the ABC they saw the boy being run over multiple times.
The 17-year-old boy from Prahran was found on St Leonards Ave with serious injuries and was transported to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.
The Kia was later abandoned on Fitzroy St in St Kilda.
Police searched the area, but no arrests were made. It’s unknown if the parties were familiar to each other.
