Video footage has been released of a teenager on a restricted licence being admonished by police after he was clocked speeding down a motorway at 189km/h.
Queensland police said the 17-year-old was intercepted just after midnight on Friday on the Sunshine Motorway at Mountain Creek, which is a 100km/h zone.
ABC Australia reported the teen had a provisional licence (P-plate), which he had held for only two months.
Frustrated officers were heard lecturing the teen in a tape of the incident released by police yesterday.
“You’ve gone 89 kilometres per hour over the speed limit, and you’ve had your licence ... what’s that? Two months?

“I think, to be honest, you need to go home and have a long look at yourself.
“I’d probably wake your mum up when you get home and sit down and talk to her about what happened tonight.
“The incident serves as a reminder that safer roads start with you.
“Every decision you make behind the wheel matters.”
