Sniper trial deadlock

A mistrial has been declared in the case of a mentally ill man accused of a series of sniper shootings that left one woman dead.

Prosecutors had sought the death penalty for Charles McCoy, who was accused of shooting at cars driving down Ohio highways, a school and two homes.

After 29 hours of jury deliberations, Judge Charles Schneider declared a mistrial because the jury said they were deadlocked on the issue of the defendant's sanity at the time of the offences.
