Dumping a weighted body overboard might sound like something criminals do, but an Australian company is offering burials at sea as a funeral option it says is legal and preserves the environment.
"Cemeteries use up a lot of valuable land these days and we seem to be getting so crowded,"Guy Richards, owner of Sea Burials Australia, told ABC radio, adding that cremations used a lot of energy.
Richards, who runs a charter boat, has performed only one sea burial so far, but he says more than a dozen people have booked in for a watery grave.
