New Zealander Russell Crowe has been singled out as one of only a few Hollywood stars who doesn't mind a beer at the local pub and isn't caught up in the trappings of being an A-list actor.
In a scathing attack on Hollywood, British screen legend Richard Harris, who co-starred withCrowe in Gladiator, said most stars of today travelled with entourages and didn't mix with regular people.
"There's a tendency now-a-days for [actors] to believe they're terribly important. They've created a sense of elitism, which I find utterly nauseating," Harris said at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"The only guy I really like is Russell Crowe. He's out of the mould of us, of the [Peter] O'Tooles and myself.
"We never had bodyguards, we sat down at pubs and chatted with people, got into fights, broke people's noses had our noses broken, it didn't make any difference. He's like that."
